Your baby will communicate with you through cooing, gurgling, smiling, and laughter. Usually, babies are able to have a hearty laugh by the time they are 3 months old.
What you need to know
There are many things that can make your baby laugh. It could be her favorite toy or your facial gestures. Once your baby learns to laugh, she may just laugh because it is a fun new sound to make or simply because she enjoys laughing. Laughter also teaches your baby how to move her tongue and mouth to produce a sound. Sometimes, she may laugh because she enjoys the sound of her own laughter. Talk to your baby often to induce laughter spells. Some babies are slow in having their first laugh. Be patient. Let her express herself any whichever way she likes.
