You will notice that your child has started imitating the way you brush your hair, talk on the phone or clap your hands. The toys that were being used for banging and throwing are now being used for their actual purpose and your baby’s play time is becoming more creative.
What you need to know
Around the age of 8 months children start to imitate actions of others during their play. They will start copying the movements of the caretaker or parent in the way they handle the toys or other household objects. Children now have more control over their muscles and will start imitating simple gestures like clapping hands, patting the clay dough, holding the doll etc. The gestures that are often repeated in front of the child will be picked up the most.
