At this age, your baby will begin to understand and start responding to simple requests and directions. Children’s communication skills grow by leaps and bounds across the first few years of life and not all have the same pace.
What you need to know
There are many ways you can encourage and help your baby’s language development. Use words that your baby understands and remember to keep the sentences short and simple. Don’t expect your little one to say a lot words. Keep in mind not to ask your baby too many questions. Asking questions can make a baby feel like you’re testing him. Don’t be discouraged if he does not respond since some open ended questions can be a challenging task for your baby.
