Your child’s imagination is now evolving and he is gaining the ability to think abstractly, so carrots can suddenly become space ships and cereal bowl is a sea with monsters. He is now using his imagination to create a world that he has heard of in his stories and loves to spend hours exploring that world through his imagination.
What you need to know
This active imagination of your child must be encouraged as it is helping him in many different ways. With this pretend play he is improving his vocabulary, learning social skills, problem solving skills and the confidence to take control. Although his imagination is developing naturally but you can augment it by having more animated story telling sessions.
