At this stage, your sweetie pie might know more than 1200 words. He will ask a million questions and will expect an answer to all of them from you. He will love to share books and will start looking at the words in the books or try to understand what picture says in the books.Your little one is 3 years old, and now he might start speaking clearly and might understand your instructions more effectively. In fact, he is likely talk using slightly complex sentences that are most grammatically correct.
What you need to know
This progress is a great way to understand that your little one is developing fine language skills. It is also a positive sign that he is heading towards the language accuracy. Your kiddo might understand and enjoy your jokes, so be careful while making fun of him now.
However, he always needs your help and support. Continue to read to him. When there are so many other exciting things going on in a busy day, it’s easy to overlook reading together but this still provides really valuable together time. Invest in some nursery rhyme CDs and enjoy singing with your child. You will be amazed at how fast he will be able to sing along. This is also a good practice to improve his vocabulary. But if your child remains silent most of the time or he doesn’t talk while he’s playing, or might be using sentences that are made up of three or less words, then this could be a sign of a developmental problem or delay. So in this case you should see your doctor. But for now, sit back, relax and enjoy parenthood as never before.
