Your kid is no longer is dependent on you to move around as she can now very well walk. She can even understand directions only if you guide her properly.
What you need to know:
Take your kid out for a walk and teach him directions, left, right, east, west, etc. Walk him through the roads and let him follow your instructions while walking. Look up, see on both sides for vehhicles, hold on to your hand while walking, etc. Though giving him a sense of direction and following instructions is important, it is equally important to help him identify hazards and implications of not being careful while following instructions of any kind.
