Your child can clearly express his needs and thoughts. His vocabulary is about 1000 to 2000 words and a sentence will have atleast 4 to 5 words. He absorbs a lot from his environment, both family and friends. He is also developing the ability to make up stories and narrate them. Pretend play drives his imagination where he talks about his role.
What you need to know
Join in as you see your child starts a conversation. Give him undivided attention and make the talk more interactive. For instance, you can talk about day to day activities, get to know about what he is pretending to play, etc. Keep it natural and an enjoyable experience.
Interacting with friends during playtime is another wonderful way in improving his language and communication skills. Read books together.
