There are many half-truths/ myths about getting pregnant and ovulating. Let us discuss them here:
Truth: In old stories, it is mentioned that if you are trying for a few months and there is no result that means you won't conceive at all.
The truth is that few couples conceive instantly during the first month of trying, few after a few months, while few after a year or so.
Truth: Ovulation can occur on the 14th day or on the 6th or 7th day or the 20th day. These all are normal. A healthy, fertile woman can have the cycle from 21 days to 35 days and ovulation depends on this. Thus, a right prediction for ovulation needs to be done.
Truth: It is common that a female ovulates from one side maximum whether it is right or left side. That is why most of the females experience pain on one side of the stomach most of the time.
Truth: Though the chances are less, you can still get pregnant while you have sex during your periods because sperm can live in the uterus for up to five days.
Truth: Ideally, to conceive you need to have sex two to three days before the ovulation as this will help in getting pregnant.
Truth: Having too much sex can exhaust you or can make your interest less in it. So, you should have sex every day or every other day only during your most fertile days as mentioned above. That's what you need to hit the goal.
Truth: In some females, it is easy to track ovulation by basal body temperature, cervical mucus prediction, or any other prediction tests. But that's not the case with all of them as in some, it is difficult to predict by these methods.
Truth: Partially, yes. In some females the water can enter the vagina and can affect the concentration or the survival of the sperm. The truth is that if you have a bath immediately after sex then there's a slight chance of the sperm getting washed away but if you take a bath after several hours of sex, then nothing will be affected as the sperm has already traveled above from the vagina.
Truth: It won't be affected as urination does not affect the quality of the sperm by any means.
Truth : Infertility affects both males and females equally. So, if a couple is unable to conceive after a year then the fertility tests of both the partners are advisable.
Truth: Infertility is caused due to the problem with the reproductive organs and stress can aggravate the problem but is not the sole cause of it.
Truth: Secondary infertility is very common and affects millions of couples confirming that the first baby is not a guarantee for the other ones.
