Using Sign Language With Infants
You must be talking and verbally communicating all the time with your little one. But the communication can be non-verbal as well. Sign language is a very powerful tool that you can use to communicate with your baby.
Actions are more powerful than words and help you build some initial bonding with your child. Your little one hears you but doesn't understand. So, use actions to make it happen. This also helps in striking a chord with your child.
Start singing to your baby when he is six months old so he can begin making associations between your gestures and his needs. Say the word as you sign it. Repeat the word and the sign as often as you can during the interaction; your kid needs the repetition in order to learn.
