How To Deal With Body Issues In Your Child?
Your child's mind easily becomes influenced by what she sees around her, what people tell her. As a result of this, she is likely to develop certain body issues at this stage. To avoid body issues in your child, give her the confidence in her abilities rather than her looks.
Emphasise on health and not weight. Talk to your child about how important it is to eat healthy and exercise not because it will make her look good but because it will make her feel good as well as healthy at the same time.
However, it is also important that you don’t avoid the truth and put an effort to make your child comfortable in her own skin. While as parents we may like to take a detour to reach a point, at times it is rather commendable to call a spade a spade. For eg. If your child has dark skin or is plum or has any deformity in the body, it is foremost important to accept that and move on. It is definitely not advisable to beat around the bush and negate the obvious. As a parent, you must teach your child to accept what she is born with, and then make her a confident human being under every circumstance. Body shaming is a huge concern even in kids, so addressing it in the most pragmatic way is the best option in hand.
