Restless leg syndrome is common among pregnant women and nearly one-third of the women face this issue. It’s a feeling that urges to move the legs. Imbalance of a brain chemical might cause restless leg syndrome.
It may be triggered due to a lack of iron in the body. It can make you irritable as you might not be able to sleep in the night.
If it becomes severe, consult your doctor. Do not take medicines without doctor’s advice. You might have a long labour or c section if you have restless leg syndrome.
Apart from restless leg syndrome, another issue is the leg cramps. Cramps are painful spasms that radiate up the legs. They are generally more at night. It could be due to tiredness of carrying baby. If you are having cramps, stretch your feet, move your toes backward and forward and stand on your feet. Put your feet up while sitting. A gentle leg massage also helps to reduce the cramps. Make sure you have calcium rich foods.
•Shortness of breath It is normal to have a slight trouble breathing because of growing uterus which squeezes the lungs.
•Frequent urination it is normal to pass urine frequently during pregnancy. It’s because of the expanding uterus and growing baby putting pressure on the bladder.
•Constipation and heartburn Constipation and heartburn are normal during pregnancy. Heartburn is the result of constipation. Drink plenty of water and include high fiber in the diet. Do not take any medicine to get relief. Regular exercise also helps.
•Hemorrhoids They are caused because the uterus puts pressure on the pelvis. Hemorrhoids may be painful. They also cause itching, stinging, or bleeding, especially after a bowel movement.
Have a balanced diet and exercise regularly. If you are worried about the fetal movement anytime, consult your doctor.
