Crunchy Golden Paddus
Looking for a yummy little snack? Here’s an interesting recipe using urad dal, which is rich in proteins and essential nutrients such as calcium, potassium and magnesium. Paddu is a South Indian dish and is extremely easy to make.
Ingredients:Urad Dal (1/4 cup), Rice (3/4 cup), Chana dal (1 tsp), Poha or flattened rice (1 tsp), Fenugreek (1/4 tsp), Oil, Onion, Green chillies and salt to taste.
1. Soak the rice, dals, poha and fenugreek seeds in water for at least 5 hours. Drain off the water and then blend all these into a smooth batter. Next add a bit of salt and leave the batter overnight for fermentation.
2. Next morning, chop an onion and green chillies and add to the mixture.
3. Grease your idli cooker/paddu maker with a little oil and pour in the batter to make crunchy paddus.
