Broken wheat or dalia is a common food item in most North Indian households. It is highly preferred due to its high content of dietary fibre, magnesium, protein, Vitamin B1 and Vitamin B2.
Ingredients: ¼ cup broken wheat, ¼ cup moong dal, 1 tsp. grated ginger, ½ cup chopped tomatoes, ½ tsp chilli powder, ghee, ½ tsp cumin seeds, a pinch of turmeric, salt, 2 cups of water, 1 green chilli slit.
1. Soak the broken wheet and moong dal for half an hour. Later, drain and set aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan, fry cumin seeds and grated ginger. Add tomatoes and the spice powders and cook till the tomatoes are pulpy.
3. Add the dalia and moong dal and sauté for a couple of minutes. Add water, close the lid and cook till you get 2 whistles.
