Aloo jeera is a North Indian dish and is usually eaten with rotis or parathas. This recipe is very easy to prepare and takes no time. You can serve this for breakfast. On one hand this dish is a delight to the palate and on the other hand it is full of nutritional benefits. While jeera is known to improve digestion and immunity, potatoes are a rich source of Vitamin B6, dietary fibre, panthothenic acid, niacin, phosphorus, manganese, Vitamin C, copper and potassium. They are also rich in antioxidants which are great for the body.
Ingredients: 3-4 medium potatoes, 1-2 green chillies, 1 ½ tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp lemon juice, oil and salt.
1. Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker. On cooling, peel and chop them up.
2. Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. Wait for them to splutter.
3. Add the chopped green chillies and sauté. Next drop in the chopped potatoes into the pan and let them cook.
4. Once the potatoes are done, switch off the flame and add the lemon juice.
You can garnish the dish with chopped coriander leaves and serve. So serve a delicious and healthy side dish today by trying out this recipe.
