Mangalore buns are delicious pooris which are made using bananas. Interesting, isn’t it? This recipe allows you to make Mangalore buns at home easily. Besides being delicious, this dish is highly nutritious because bananas are a rich source of potassium, dietary fibre, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6.
Ingredients: 1 banana chopped, 2-3 tbsp. sugar, ½ tsp cumin powder, a pinch of salt, 2 pinch of baking soda, 2 tbsp. yogurt, 1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour, 1 tbsp. ghee, oil.
1. Puree the chopped bananas with sugar in a blender.
2. Take a bowl, add the flour, baking soda, yogurt, salt, cumin powder and add the banana puree into it. Mix well to form a soft dough. Set aside for 3-4 hours.
3. Gently knead the dough again later and pinch out small balls from it.
4. Roll out into round pooris. Deep fry the pooris in oil till they are crisp and golden.
