Green peas are a rich source of choline, potassium, iron, magnesium, protein, zinc, molybdenum, Vitamin B2, niacin, Vitamin B6, folate, phosphorus, Vitamin C, copper, Vitamin B1, dietary fibre, manganese and Vitamin K. Use this nutritious vegetable to cook up a yummy Peas Pulao using this recipe. 

Ingredients: 1 ½ cups basmati rice, 2 ½ cups water, 1 cup of green peas, ¾ tbsp. ginger garlic paste, 2 green chillies slit, handful of mint leaves, ¾ cup of sliced onions, 2 tbsp. ghee, cashews, salt, 1 tsp. cumin, 1 star anise, 4-6 cardamoms, 2 strands mace, a small piece of nutmeg, 6 cloves, one stone flower, 1 bay leaf, 2 inch cinnamon stick. 


 1. Saute the cashews in ghee till they turn golden and set aside. 

 2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add the whole spices and sauté. 

 3. Throw in the sliced onions and sauté till they are golden. Add the ginger-garlic paste, sauté for 2 minutes and add the peas and rice. 

 4. Add salt, pour water and cook on low flame for 5 minutes. 

 5. Remove the lid and fluff the rice. 

Cook this peas pulao at home using this recipe and serve it with raita.
