Sajjige, also known as Upma, is a traditional South Indian dish and is made from rava or semolina. Rava is known to be extremely beneficial for health as it contains fibre, and essential nutrients and minerals. So have a power packed breakfast with Sajjige.

Ingredients: Rava (1 cup), Ghee (1 tbsp), oil, a pinch of mustard seeds, urad dal (1 tsp), one onion chopped, 1 inch ginger finely chopped, a few curry leaves, sugar (4 tsp), salt (1 tsp), green chillies (as per taste), cashew nuts (2-3 pieces)

Steps: 

1. In a kadhai, roast the semolina till it is brown in colour and set aside. 

2. In another vessel, boil water and add sugar and salt to it. Set aside.

3. Heat oil and throw in mustard seeds and wait for them to crackle. Add ginger, onion, green chillies and curry leaves and sauté. 

4. Add rava and mix well. Pour in the sweet salty water and bring to boil. Stir continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for a minute.
