Whole Wheat Chia Pretzels
The Whole Wheat Chia Pretzels is a sweet recipe not only rich in taste but also adds a lot of nutritious value like vitamins, minerals, calcium and much more.
Ingredients: 1 package of active dry yeast, 1 and ¾ cups of lukewarm water, 1 tbsp honey, 4 cups of whole wheat flour, ½ cup chia seeds, 1 tsp salt, 1 egg (lightly beaten), cinnamon, sesame seeds and brown sugar for coating.
1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F, and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. In a small bowl, combine yeast, water, honey and whisk to dissolve the yeast, let it stand for 10 minutes, the mixture should appear bubbly at the end.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk to combine flour, chia seeds and salt. Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir until stiff, transfer to a floured surface and knead until it is smooth and elastic.
3. Pinch off golf ball sized bit of dough and roll into ¼ - ½ inch in diameter ropes, from these ropes form into pretzels and gently place on a baking sheet.
4. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with your favorite toppings. Bake until pretzels are puffy or for about 10-12 minutes, do not over bake the pretzels as they will be dry.
