Having trouble feeding dal to your kid? Here’s an interesting recipe using black gram or urad dal. Urad dal is considered to be a high source of protein and also contains folic acid and Vitamin B. Black gram sundal is an easy South Indian dish which can quickly be prepared in your kitchen.

Ingredients: Black gram or Urad dal (1/2 cup), ¼ cup of palm sugar or jiggery, 2-3 tablespoons of grated coconut, a pinch of cardamom powder, salt to taste. 


1. Keep the urad dal soaked for about 20 to 30 minutes before cooking. 

2. After it has been soaked, cook it in a pressure cooker for about 5 minutes. 

3. Powder the palm sugar or jaggery and cook again in a pressure cooked. Once done, remove it from the cooker and add salt and grated coconut. 

Delicious black gram sundal is ready and can be served as a side dish at lunch or dinner. Take a dig at it today and share it with your friends if you like it!
