Bajra is an excellent grain, as it is packed with fibre and minerals. Try out our super easy and nutritious bajra idli recipe.

Ingredients: Bajra 3 cups, Rice 1 cup, Skinless black gram 1 cup, Fenugreek seeds  ½ teaspoon, Oil 2 tbsps, Asafoetida a pinch, Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon, Ginger chopped 1 tablespoon, Curry leaves 10-15, Salt to taste, Soda bicarbonate ¼ teaspoon


1.   Soak bajra overnight. Soak black gram with fenugreek seeds for 2 hours. Soak rice for 2 hours. Drain and grind each finely and mix all of them in a big bowl. Cover and keep in a warm place to ferment overnight.

2.   Heat oil, add asafoetida, mustard seeds, ginger and saute for 1 minute. Add curry leaves and mix and add this tempering to the batter. Add salt and soda and mix well. 

3.   Pour the batter into greased idli moulds  and steam for 10-12 minutes. Serve with chutney.
