Your baby may not be much verbal now but uses many non-verbal ways to communicate his needs to you. Through gestures, pointing, pulling your clothes, smiling etc. he tries to get your attention. These are signs of his language readiness.
What you need to know
You may find your child understanding what you are saying. This is a good sign that he is gaining the ability to talk soon as the ability to understand language comes before talking. By reading books to your child, talking, maintaining eye contact, your child will soon be replacing non-verbal gestures by verbal communication.
